I always enjoy visiting local establishments, especially when they involve fruit like grapes! “Where the Canadian Shield and limestone meet is where our cherished vines thrive” is the greeting on their website.
I’m talking about the Schuermann Vineyard & Winery in Westport, Ontario. Last weekend I visited this locale and as one drives down the long driveway to the winery, you see the expanse of this quaint, boutique vineyard, nestled on the shore of beautiful Sand Lake.
Of course, having some wine always needs something to eat. This winery has a wonderful sheltered cooking area, where delicacies are served after being cooked in the wood-fired oven.
The wine came and so did the food, all deliciously prepared, delivered and presented by terrific people.
It was a great afternoon and Mother Nature helped out immensely.
Here is one last view of the vineyards and the area around. “I’ll be back!”
