Palma de Majorca, Spain

Welcome to laid-back Palma!  Bienvenue a Palma relaxant!  Witamy do wspanialej Palmy!  Wilkommen an Relaxed Palma!

Let’s step into the highlights of this beautiful place. Landmarks include a gothic cathedral, Moorish castle, Spanish monarch palace and tapas restaurants galore.  Spanish passions include flamenco, bull ring fights, sunbathing and swimming in the warm waters of the Mediterranean. It just doesn’t get any better!  For example, the bull ring, built in 1928, has a capacity for 10,000 viewers. The La Seu Cathedral is a gothic structure which overlooks the Arabic walls that protect the city. The Spanish Royal Family still has its official residence here to welcome guests and dignitaries from other countries.

I visited a local winery where the wine-making process was demonstrated and copious quantities of red, white and rose wines were consumed.

Today’s weather is 34C with no wind and cloudless skies. Even the millions of palm trees are not swaying in a breeze today. Guess where the name comes from?  Today’s shipboard entertainment included Motown and swing performers and an ice show on the skating rink.

Tomorrow we will be in Barcelona, Spain.
